Spring Work Weekend 07

Though many people had some work weekends of their own earlier this month, the "official" work weekend was a success. Hats off to Kathy, Megan and Jacob for all their hard work in the kitchen, while keeping us well fed. John and Andy Capone had dueling tractors and York rakes. John's rake was bigger but Andy had headlights. The Northland Road and Hill 19 Road got some attention and are dressed up nice. Lines were painted and posted. Road canopy was cut back on the Northland. The grain shed, and wood shed were painted. Many other chores were completed, but I was just too busy to document all of it. This photo captures work weekend in all it's glory.

National Grid Tree Maintenance

Just an FYI for everybody. I received a letter from National Grid that they have contracted with Tamarack Tree to perform routine tree maintenance from the top of the Garlough Road to our gate. The letter says that the start time is May 28, 2007 and a duration of 10 months. I'm sure that this is just the "window" not the actual time it will take to complete the work. Also, the phone at the gatehouse is operational again.

Spring Work Weekend '07

Be sure to contact John Cook if you'll be attending Work Weekend this weekend (May 18 - 20). We will need a head count for meals, so let him know how many people will be in your party. If you are unable to attend, be sure to sign up for a project to complete at some point in the near future to receive your work credits. A reminder that each member is responsible for 8 man days of work. Just like everything else in life, there is a cost if you do not participate in work weekends. Currently, it is $200 per weekend. Any questions, please feel free to contact Bob, John or myself.

The endless battle of rowing all over the pond to pitch a few casts where the trout are jumping is back in full swing. My father and I went out with Marlo and Jude last Sunday. We were trolling with Phoebe's, and Marlo said, "My pole is wiggling." Sure enough, she had a nice one on. They watched him swim in the bucket and were excited about having it for breakfast.
